Many\u00a0voters took advantage of\u00a0online voting which increased the turnout.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-ltymfqmc-a7e66dfd12d3c3a0f73a2f3629a0358f '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><h2>High Turnout Through Online Voting<\/h2>\n<p>Approximately 10 percent of all eligible voters took advantage of\u00a0online voting for the church council election. Already after 24 hours,\u00a03,000 votes had\u00a0been cast online.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The share of young people using online voting was particularly high<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This shows that online elections have great potential to motivate in particular young and first-time\u00a0voters to participate. In the EKKW,\u00a0young people are eligible to vote when they are 14 years old.\u00a0But even the older voters did not want to miss out on the convenience of online voting. Therefore, there was also a very high turnout among voters aged 70 or older.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The entire\u00a0church is very pleased,&#8221; says Frank Liese, project manager of the online election of the Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck. &#8220;I have\u00a0received\u00a0a lot of positive feedback,&#8221; says Liese, &#8220;not just of young people. I know, for example, that the entire senior computer club in\u00a0a community has elected online.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-ltymg7xp-b78053bb5458bc6df78350d079a20a72 '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><h2>Positive Feedback From the Online Voters<\/h2>\n<p>The online election was accompanied by a scientific survey of the voters,\u00a0conducted by the University of\u00a0M\u00fcnster. The aim of the survey was to find out how the voters would adopt\u00a0the online voting system. Online voting\u00a0with POLYAS is a sign\u00a0of future-orientedness\u00a0in an expanding digital world.<\/p>\n<p>The project leader of the church council election, Eckhard K\u00e4\u00dfmann, draws a positive conclusion: &#8220;A remarkable number of voters used online voting, particularly young people.
