The panel of stakeholders is the central decision-making body of Photonics21 and can contain up to 100 representatives.<\/p>\n<p>Between October 19th and\u00a0November 2nd\u00a02015,\u00a0335 eligible voters elected their\u00a0&#8220;Board of Stakeholders&#8221; online.\u00a0The stakeholder election took place in two stages:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Round 1 &#8211;\u00a0the institutions were able to nominate their candidates to\u00a0stand\u00a0for election<\/li>\n<li>Round 2 &#8211; the wider electorate voted for their representatives from among the candidates<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Voting online with POLYAS enabled\u00a0Photonics21\u00a0to achieve\u00a0a voter\u00a0turnout of 74 percent.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-ltymfqmc-a7e66dfd12d3c3a0f73a2f3629a0358f '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><h2>Vote online from anywhere<\/h2>\n<p>Photonics21 is represented as an interdisciplinary network of companies and research institutes across Europe. As voters were spread out across a wide geographical\u00a0area, it made perfect sense for them to conduct their\u00a0election online.
