Since every association gives itself their own bylaws, the voting procedure can differ between the various associations.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-ltymfqmc-a7e66dfd12d3c3a0f73a2f3629a0358f '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><h2>Board of Directors: Candidate Election<\/h2>\n<p>As a rule, the board of directors election in associations is conducted as a candidate election. Individual members (or if the bylaws allow\u00a0it, external persons) can run for a position on the board. The directors on the board are elected by the membership through relative majority.<\/p>\n<p>It is also possible to run for a position on the board of directors in absentia, if it is included in the bylaws and the candidate signed a declaration of consent.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-ltymg7xp-b78053bb5458bc6df78350d079a20a72 '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><h2>Voting Procedure of &#8220;List Elections&#8221;<\/h2>\n<p>The board of directors can also be elected in a \u201crigid list\u201d or rather \u201cen bloc\u201d. This voting procedure has to be part of the bylaws and it needs to be clarified when this voting procedure applies.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/associations\/board-elections\/amending-bylaws\">Read more about amending your association\u2019s bylaws!<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cList elections\u201c in associations<\/strong><br \/>\nWhen using the \u201crigid list\u201c or \u201cen bloc\u201c voting procedure, the election officer creates a <a href=\"\/associations\/board-elections\/ballot-paper-templates\">list of candidates<\/a> with their planned position on the board of directors. The list of candidates represents the entire board of directors. When voting \u201cen bloc\u201d, the voter can vote for or against this list of candidates. If there is more than one list of candidates, the voter has to elect one.
